I've been married to my husband for 10 years, and we started out in a small apartment in the city, with big dreams of moving to the country to homestead one day.
We've been living in our little slice of rural heaven for about 6 years now, and have dreams of expanding the property and becoming vocational farmers. My, how things change!
Sourdough, Culturing, Fermenting, and Preserving
I started learning the art of sourdough, fermenting, and preserving back in that tiny 500 square foot apartment in the city, so I've had more than a decade of experience with these traditional arts.
I drink homemade kefir almost every day in the form of kefir smoothies, and one of my favorite recipes to make again and again is my homemade sauerkraut in a fermenting crock (although you could use a half gallon mason jar instead).
I also love to put up food from our garden and farmer's markets by canning, fermenting, or dehydrating for Winter storage. I also hope to get into freeze drying in the near future!
Over the past 5 years I have developed an interest in herbs and making my own tinctures, salves, and skincare from herbs.
I've shared a few of my favorite natural remedies, and plan on sharing many more in the years to come, so be sure to check back often!
A Passion for Teaching and Sharing
More than anything, I have always had a desire to teach others what I have learned, which is what spurred me to create Little Home in the Making years ago.
I strive to bring you detailed, informed tutorials, that are simple enough to understand, but detailed enough to hold your hand along the way.
To help with those that learn visually, I've recently started sharing videos on my YouTube channel. I also aim to share concise, informative content on my Instagram and Facebook when possible, so be sure to follow me along there!
If you like what you see and want to learn more about from-scratch living, be sure to subscribe to my e-mail newsletter, where I share favorite recipes and occasional life (and farm) updates.
Until next time,
Take care of yourself and others,
